Brown Bear, Osseus Pestiferus

Compared to other countries, France has very few large predators. The brown bear is one of them.
One might think they are cherished, and that people are happy to still have such large animals roaming free. Unfortunately, however, humans are encroaching everywhere, and once again, the animal no longer has a place in its own territory. Yet, there is something so poetic about observing them in their natural environment—exactly where they belong.
Osseus pestiferus : In a divergent world, nature is called into question. By its very nature, it reminds us that it is a whole, encompassing all life on Earth. Placed in the dock, it is fragmented. Flesh hollows out, bones are laid bare, yet the power of life remains intact. The majesty of the osseus pestiferus is unconditional and unchanging. Time passes and transforms them into indestructible mythological relics.
Badger, Osseus Dei

Badger are considered a pest by the locals because it digs holes in the gardens… it is a major victim of the roadsides in general indifference, and in addition there are (legal!!) hunting practices against it which are just inhumane.
I created a new series for this sculpture, which I called « Osseus Dei. » This series will be dedicated to animals that are not only misunderstood but often suffer from a lack of knowledge about them, which makes them even easier to neglect, or even to harm.
The aim of my work is to deify them, to make them invulnerable. I’m taking the codes of religion and mysticism and giving them to the animals that need them.

Rats are an unloved species, classified as pests and undesirable; they are systematically driven out of our lives, without any consideration of how we might live in harmony with them.

Thylacine, Osseus infinitus

The Tasmanian tiger is considered extinct. Perceived as a threat to livestock, it was subjected to a massive extinction campaign by humans. It then slowly disappeared due to habitat loss caused by agriculture and finally by new diseases brought by domestic animals such as dogs.
Osseus infinitus have taken their place in the pantheon of extinct species, joining the eternity of the cosmos. Their palpable reality is fading, but their existence has transcended matter. Engraved in the stars, they trace these mythological figures constellating infinite space

I chose this animal for its ordinariness. We often see it along French roadsides, or as a trophy in certain restaurants. I wanted to pay tribute to it, and remind people that these everyday animals are exceptional and that their presence is precious. Let’s preserve their habitats.
Gold adds a touch of luxury and light, contrasting with black, which embodies simplicity and elegance. I work with the silhouette in black to evoke the animal, its flesh, its presence that also knows how to fade away or disappear.
Metal reveals the bones, what remains of the animal when it is too late. Like armor or jewelry, it is what becomes its strength and power, and what restores the light it deserves to have.
Owl, Osseus spiritus

Owls are quite common in our forests, yet we rarely see them, and they seem exotic to us. Often, the creatures we come into closest contact with are the ones we feel least compelled to defend and protect.
Osseus spiritus : From the ruins of a destructive world, the spirit of nature is reborn. The skeleton—the framework of life—once again breathes life into the essence of existence. Through its power, nature reclaims its rightful place. Bones become shimmering armor, and silhouettes of black flesh rise from nothingness to reclaim power.
Agnus Dei, Osseus mysticus

Agnus Dei is a powerful religious symbol. But behind that symbolism lies a small lamb that is sacrificed.
The idea behind this sculpture is to put the lamb back at the center of the matter and to remind us that its life is precious. Symbols carry weight; it’s good to question them from time to time.
Ermine, Osseus mysticus

The ermine is the symbol of Anne of Brittany, Queen of France. In this region of France, Brittany, the symbol of the ermine is everywhere. It is proudly displayed even on its flag. I wanted to give this adorable animal (yet one hunted for its fur) the place of a queen. We forget too quickly what symbols represent; she deserves to put the animal back at the center of the discussion. she wears the symbol that made her famous.
